Fitness, General Programs & Social Media Supervisor (Permanent Full Time)






Canadian Recreation Excellence (Chilliwack) Corporation is proud to have been selected by the City of Chilliwack to operate the City’s Recreation Centre’s (Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre, Cheam Leisure Centre and Rotary Outdoor Pool) beginning in October 2015. Our work with the City continues on to this day. Position: Fitness, General Programs & Social Media Supervisor

Under the direction and supervision of the project General Manager and the Facility Manager the Fitness, General Programs & Social Media Supervisor is seen as the key team leader for the Health and Fitness program initiatives our company desires to provide to the citizens of Chilliwack. You will be responsible for the development of program staff and the provision of direction and support to all Fitness staff, Program staff and volunteers. The Fitness, General Programming & Social Media Supervisor will be required to work to strategically implement programs and services to achieve initiatives in accordance with Recreation Excellence’s strategic plan for improving Health and Wellness within our Chilliwack facilities and our community. Achievement of these strategic initiatives will require working collaboratively with your fellow managers and being open to new ideas and industry initiatives. In addition, the Fitness, General Program & Social Media Supervisor will oversee and ensure smooth day-to-day departmental operations of the Fitness department & general programs and provide effective departmental leadership, creating a positive work environment where employees feel empowered and excited to be a part of “the team.”

Required/Desired Qualifications

  • Current Group Fitness Certification from a recognized fitness association or a degree in a related field
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED
  • Strong ability to encourage and motivate others
  • Eager to learn and continue professional development and education
  • Friendly, vibrant and outgoing
  • Have access to regular email and phone communication

Position Duties:

  • The ability to model appropriate behaviours as outlined in Organization’s 7 Unifying Principals – Unconditional Respect, Unconditional Trustworthiness, Teamwork, Open, Forthright Communication, Perpetual Growth, Reverence for the Client & Company and Humour & Goodwill.
  • Plan, organize and deliver high quality, safe and stimulating fitness & youth & general programs and special events for all levels of participants.
  • Provide a high level of front-line customer service including greeting and engaging community members.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy program space within the facilities.
  • Teach fitness classes
  • Ensure qualifications are kept current, including CPR C annually.
  • Communicate with the General Manager and Facility Manager, member feedback, class attendance numbers, equipment and operational status, emergency incidents, scheduling and subbing.
  • Attend meetings and trainings, as required.
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for and with all participants and staff.
  • Strength and understanding of social media and social media trends is key.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary: $41,600 – $49,920 depending on experience and certifications. Employment includes extended benefits after 6-months, mileage and cell phone allowance, facility membership, along with additional training and education

The successful candidate will require a Criminal Record Check and Working with Vulnerable Persons search prior to commencing work and must maintain a clean Criminal Record to remain on staff.
